**The following post is fictional, while based on a real pet I have, none of the following events actually took place. Also, this was written in 7th grade**
I opened my eyes and looked around. I was lying in a field, an endless sea of flowing green grass swayed around me in the wind. Crickets chirped in unknown hiding places in the grass singing their lullabies to the cool night wind. Fireflies buzzed in and out of the tall grasses like stars fallen from the sky. I was in an unknown place that I did not recognize. Instinctively I tried to get up and move, but in the back of my mind I knew I would not be able to go anywhere. I had been in a wheelchair since I was able to operate one myself. I was stuck. I knew I had to find some way to get out of there, and I started looking around. There on the horizon line silhouetted against the moon, was a giant animal. The beast seemed to be as big as a rhino from that distance. Now I was really scared. The great animal looked right at me and began to come forward. I could not move. All I could do was lie there as the animal got closer. Finally, the animal got close enough for me to see it.
It was a great dog, with curly black fur and gray patches on her chest that seemed to be flames coming out from all around her. When she got close enough I saw my reflection in her dark eyes. That was when I realized that it was my dog. Relief, mingled with confusion flooded over me,
“Georgia?” I blinked up at her in astonishment, “how did you get so big? Where am I?”
“The time for questions is not now,” she replied in a voice I would not have associated with her.
“I am here to help you walk. You warm my heart and make me joyful everyday, now I will do the same for you. Get on my back.” she knelt down and I slid on her warm back. She rose gracefully from the ground and bounded along. It was amazing! It felt like floating on air. We walked through woods, along creeks that sparkled and trickled in the late night. We ate wild fruit and listened to the night noises. The animals of the night darted in and out of the shadows. Everything was so peaceful…
Finally, the first golden rays of the early dawn bled through the trees. I had not realized that I had slept for so long. Georgia rose and said,
“It is time for you to be going.”
“Going? Going where?” Isn’t this where I belong?” I asked.
“I regret to say that this is a dream. Only in a dream do I grow so big and speak to you as I have. I am sorry.” she bowed her head sorrowfully. I leaned forward and kissed her on the head lightly,
“There is no reason to be sorry. You have made me the happiest person there is, now and in consciousness. I will love you forever. Now, I will go back willingly and with a light and happy heart. Though will I ever be able to return?”
“You may return whenever you feel like. I will always listen to you if you need someone to talk to in the conscience world. I may not respond, but you know in your heart that I am listening. Now sleep.”
I laid back down on the soft grass and Georgia laid down next to me and put her head on mine. Then I fell into a deep slumber…
When I awoke I was back in my own room. I looked beside me and there lay Georgia, back in her pint sized package, resting peacefully next to me.
